Imagine It Like This...

As if your mind and body were an advanced spaceship, with you as the captain, and the rest of the crew as your worker minions. Your Mind Minions. The job of these mind minions is to make you happy. (Click right to read more...)
Throughout your early years together, your minions set about learning what you like and want. Particularly with regards to what you want to be, do and have. And just as importantly they learn what you don’t want. What to avoid at any cost. The ways you DON’T want to be or feel.
So when you DON’T want to be or feel bored, or lonely or scared, your Mind Minions remember never to let you feel that way And they do it be using the first solution you ever came up with, even if that was as a young child.
Let’s have a look what that might look like… This is Johnny... and These are his Mind Minions Let’s have a look how Johnny's Mind Minions influence his life…
Let’s visit Johnny as a young child, at home with his mum. Mum’s rushed off her feet, Johnny’s bored and wants some attention
Instead, his mum gives him a cookie to pacify him. It works and Johnny feels better for a while.
His Mind Minions notice that cookies stopped his boredom.

A Few Years Later...

Johnny has a run in with some bullies. They take his stuff and beat him up. He feels alone and scared.
Walking home he passes a sweet shop. His mind minions remember how the cookie stopped him feeling bored, so maybe it will work for feeling lonely and scared.
He stuffs his face with junk food and forgets his problems, for a little while at least.
By this point, Johnny’s mind minions are starting to realise that this is a solution that can work to stop painful emotions.
So when he’s dumped by his girlfriend, he dives straight into a mountain of burgers and fries to help get through.
But bigger problems need bigger solutions so he spends nights on end in front of the TV demolishing tubs of ice cream.

As Johnny progresses through life

...he learns to feel safe and comforted by food. When things are too much food becomes his go-to solution. An automatic response.
...And it creeps in everywhere, portion sizes becomes bigger...
...and he finds it harder to resist snacking or stick to a healthy diet.
If he does decide to make a change he’s nearly always fighting an internal battle.
Sticking to a diet or exercise program requires so much discipline, self awareness and effort he’s beaten before he’s started.
And when something stresses him, or he gets scared or unhappy, the pull of the old solution is too much for him.

Where your Mind Minions go - you go!

And if they’re following the wrong programming there’s only one direction you can go!

BUT WHAT IF YOU COULD PROGRAM YOUR MIND MINIONS TO SUCCESS.

Hey, welcome to Day 6. So how did your day of awareness go?

Hopefully, you'll have noticed some areas of resistance in sticking to your first stretch goal and that's what we're going to be working on today.

If you haven't found any areas of resistance then your stretch goal wasn't enough of a stretch!

In which case, go back to you food diary comparison and create a new stretch goal that will push you out of your comfort zone. And when you do notice resistance coming up, in a few days, you can come back to this section.

But, if you set your stretch goal was far enough out of your comfort zone, the task will have brought up some level of discomfort or resistance for you.

So the first thing to understand is how and why resistance is created, and why it can sometimes feel like you're fighting a battle internally where you're literally pulling in two different directions at once.

You can also find the Mind Minions comic in the downloads section today. They serve as an excellent metaphor for how you think and feel and this metaphor will enable you to reprogram your old patterns much easier.

So how do you get your 'Mind Minions' on-board and pulling in the right direction?

That's what we're going to start with today.

And today's task is to use the 'Inner Change' track to go inside and meet and talk to your Mind Minions or 'parts of yourself' for the first time.

Use your awareness journal to choose an area to look at and simply use the track to explore what's really going on.

Remember, it's not about judgment, it's about understanding, love and compassion for yourself. So enjoy today, and we'll see you tomorrow.
